We are a group of art-minded people, from beginners to professionals, with a common love of art. Our Society has been operating since 1977 offering a beautiful space to share ideas, inspire creativity and talk about art.
We paint in all medium types and varying subjects. If you are looking to purchase a specific piece of art we can assist with over 80 artists who love a challenge. Check out our Collecting page.
Our general meetings are held once a month and vary in content from demonstrations by visiting artists, to product information, or just bringing along our latest painting challenge. Come and join us at our next interactive art meeting held at the Atwell Gallery, Alfred Cove, visitors are welcome.
Apart from our regular meetings we also hold events such as plein air paint outs, exhibitions, workshops or art getaways. Upcoming events and meetings are listed on our Event Calendar. MONTHLY MEETINGS are held at our regular meeting place – the Atwell Gallery, on the Canning Highway (near North Lake Road), Alfred Cove, on the last Thursday of the month at 6.45pm. There is no fee for members or first time visitors and guests.
EXCURSIONS/CAMPS With like minded people it is easy to gather a group to explore the surrounding art scene. This may be a day trip or a short get-away, and often includes Plein air painting which is both challenging and fun.
MELVILLE OPEN STUDIOS are held annually, usually on a weekend in April, we typically will have a display at Atwell Gallery.
EXHIBITIONS A highlight exhibition of the year is our annual “Awards of Excellence” held at the Atwell Gallery. This year the 25th Annual Awards will be held daily (10-4) from 4th to 12th May (opening 3rd May, at 7pm). The quality of work is always of a high calibre and not to be missed.
Throughout the year we may exhibit at other locations/galleries and always update our artists of competition availability.
